About

FormatForDev helps developers inspect, transform, and export everyday data without uploading it to a processing service.

What the site helps you do

Use a focused workspace to format or validate JSON, XML, YAML, CSV, HTML, CSS, and SQL. Other tools convert structured data, encode text, inspect images, and work with PDF and Office files. Each tool page explains the expected input, a practical example, and limits that matter when you reuse the result.

The homepage opens directly in the JSON Formatter. Search in the header or browse a category guide when you need a different operation. The guides explain why you might choose a viewer, validator, formatter, or converter for the same file.

How processing works

The site is built as static pages. Tool input and uploaded files are processed in your browser, often in a Web Worker so large files do not block the interface. The site has no tool-processing API, user account, or database that receives your content.

Your editor content is not saved by the site. Only the color theme and expanded workspace preference can be kept in your browser's local storage. For details about those preferences and website delivery, see the Privacy Policy.

How to use the results

Formatting makes text easier to read, but it does not prove that a program, configuration, or data conversion is correct for your application. Some conversions simplify nested data or omit document features. Review the examples and limitations on each tool page, then test the output in its destination.

We test tool logic and browser workflows, and we aim to describe known limits plainly. If an example is misleading or a file produces a wrong result, a small, non-sensitive reproduction helps us improve the tool.
