Excel Tools
JSON to XLSX
Create a one-sheet XLSX workbook from a JSON array of objects. Object keys become column headers, missing values become empty cells, and nested arrays or objects are serialized as JSON text. Processing stays on your device.

How to use
- Paste a non-empty JSON array where every item is an object.
- Create the workbook and check the reported file size.
- Download the XLSX file and review its Data worksheet before sharing.
Examples
Review API records in a spreadsheet
The second record gets an empty tags cell, and the first record keeps its nested value as readable text.
[{"id":"A-101","tags":["new","priority"]},{"id":"A-102"}]XLSX sheet Data with columns id and tags; the array is stored as JSON text
Make records easy to inspect
A JSON array of objects is common in API responses and developer logs, while a spreadsheet is convenient for human review. This tool builds a new workbook with one Data sheet. It collects all object keys for headers, then places each record on a row. Missing fields become empty cells. If a value is itself an object or array, it is written as JSON text in one cell so the nested structure is still visible.
The workbook is intentionally simple. It does not infer numeric types, add formulas, or style cells. This prevents the converter from making silent choices about values such as account numbers, dates, or identifiers. A spreadsheet user can apply number formats after checking the data. The output is limited to a manageable number of cells for browser processing.
Use JSON Validator if the input is malformed. If the receiving system expects machine-readable records again, XLSX to JSON can export a selected worksheet, but it returns visible cell values as strings. Review types during any round trip.
Frequently asked questions
What JSON shape is required?
Use a non-empty array of objects. A standalone object, array of numbers, or malformed JSON is rejected.
How are nested values handled?
Nested objects and arrays are serialized into one text cell. They are not spread across multiple worksheets.
Are numbers written as Excel numbers?
No. Values are written as text to make type handling predictable and preserve identifiers.
What happens to missing keys?
The header is the union of keys across all records. A missing key produces an empty cell in that row.
Is the JSON uploaded?
No. The workbook is generated in a browser worker and downloaded directly from your browser.
