Encoding & Decoding Tools

Encoding changes how text is represented so it can travel through a URL, a text-only channel, or HTML markup. It does not hide the text. Choose the destination first, then use the corresponding encoder or decoder to inspect the exact result locally.

Choose the right tool

URL Encoder / Decoder

Encode one URL component, such as a query value that contains spaces, ampersands, or Unicode.

Base64 Encoder / Decoder

Convert UTF-8 text to Base64 when a text-only format requires that representation.

HTML Escape / Unescape

Escape text that must appear as literal characters in HTML markup rather than as tags.

Text / Binary Converter

Inspect UTF-8 bytes as binary when you need to understand a text encoding problem.

Example workflow: prepare a query value

  1. Take only the value for one query parameter, not the complete URL, and paste it into URL Encoder / Decoder.
  2. Encode the component and inspect how spaces, ampersands, and non-ASCII characters changed.
  3. Insert the result into the intended URL and test that the destination decodes the original value.

Before you use the result

Base64 and URL encoding are reversible representations, not encryption. HTML escaping is not a general sanitizer. The HTML decoder supports common named entities and numeric references, rather than every named HTML entity.

Match the representation to the destination

Use URL Encoder / Decoder for an individual path or query component. Encoding an entire URL as one component will also escape separators such as ? and &, changing its structure. Base64 Encoder / Decoder works with UTF-8 text and is useful when an integration specifically requires Base64. Anyone with the encoded string can decode it, so avoid treating it as secret storage.

For markup, HTML Escape / Unescape makes text such as <tag> display as characters. It is a focused text transformation; application security still depends on the right escaping or sanitization for the actual HTML context. If a representation looks wrong, Text / Binary Converter can help you inspect the underlying UTF-8 bytes before changing the encoding step.
