Export a worksheet, not a whole workbook

An Excel workbook can have several worksheets and features that CSV cannot represent. This tool asks you to select one sheet, then exports a rectangular list of visible cell values. It is useful when a database importer, data script, or teammate needs ordinary rows rather than a complete workbook. The preview helps you confirm that you selected the right tab before downloading.

CSV cannot preserve formulas, colors, merged cells, charts, comments, or multiple sheets. If a formula cell has a cached display value in the file, that value is exported; this tool does not recalculate it. Dates and numbers are exported as displayed strings. Check leading zeros, decimal separators, and date formats against the receiving system.

Cells that could be interpreted as formulas when opened as CSV in a spreadsheet program receive an apostrophe prefix. This favors safer handoff over a byte-for-byte text copy. If your destination expects the original leading character, review and adjust those fields deliberately. Use XLSX to JSON when named records are more useful than a flat CSV file.

Frequently asked questions

Are formulas preserved?

No. CSV has no formula or formatting model. The tool exports the displayed cached value when the workbook provides one; it does not calculate formulas.

Can I export all worksheets together?

No. CSV represents one table. Select and export each worksheet separately so the result has a clear source.

How are CSV formulas handled?

Cells beginning with characters that spreadsheet programs may execute as formulas are prefixed with an apostrophe in the CSV result. Review those cells if exact text is required.

What is the size limit?

The source file must be under 10 MB and the selected worksheet must fit within 100,000 cells.

Is my workbook uploaded?

No. The file is read and converted in your browser. The output is generated only after you choose Create output.
