JSON Tools
JSON Viewer
Inspect JSON as a navigable tree instead of searching through a wall of punctuation. Open nested objects and arrays, collapse sections you do not need, and search for paths or scalar values.

Keyboard shortcuts
Ctrl/⌘ + Enter: process
Ctrl/⌘ + Shift + F: full screen
Esc: exit full screen
Ctrl/⌘ + F in editor: search
How to use
- Paste JSON, choose a local file, or load the sample. The tree appears after the JSON parses successfully.
- Open a disclosure row to inspect its children. Use Expand all or Collapse all for the visible nodes.
- Enter a key, path fragment, or value in Search tree to find matching entries. Clear search to return to the tree.
- Copy or download the JSON when you need to share the original parsed structure.
Examples
Inspect a nested profile
Open the user and roles rows to follow the hierarchy without losing your place.
{"user":{"id":7,"roles":["editor","reviewer"]}}root {1}
user {2}
id: 7
roles [2]Find a flag
Searching for enabled shows paths and matching values across the object.
{"services":{"api":{"enabled":true},"mail":{"enabled":false}}}root.services.api.enabled: true
A practical way to inspect structure
A tree view is most helpful when a response has several layers of nested objects or long arrays. Instead of counting braces, you can move from a parent node to the field you care about. Arrays show their item count, and objects show their property count. Scalar values remain visible next to their keys.
Search is useful for finding a feature flag, identifier, or a field name repeated in many records. Results include paths, which help you distinguish identical keys under different parents. For example, billing.status and shipping.status may have different values even though both keys are named status.
Working with large input
The JSON parser runs in a separate browser worker, so a multi-megabyte payload does not block typing while it is being parsed. The tree creates child rows in batches as you open a node. If you need a text version, use the Formatter for indentation or the Minifier for a compact representation. The viewer itself is designed for orientation and exploration, rather than editing individual fields.
Frequently asked questions
Can I search inside collapsed branches?
Yes. Search walks the parsed data, so it can find keys and values that are not currently visible in the expanded tree.
What does Expand all do on a large file?
It opens currently rendered disclosure rows. Long collections load children in batches to avoid creating thousands of elements at once.
Can I edit values in the tree?
The tree is for inspection. Edit the source JSON in the input panel and the tree will update after parsing.
Does viewing JSON send it to a server?
No. Parsing and tree rendering happen locally in your browser. Uploaded files stay on your device.
