Image Converter
Convert a PNG, JPEG, or WebP image into another browser-supported format. Preview the new file, inspect its dimensions and byte size, and download it without sending the source image to a server.

Export creates a new static image and does not preserve animation or embedded metadata. JPEG replaces transparency with white.
How to use
- Choose or drop a PNG, JPEG, or WebP file and check the original preview.
- Select PNG, JPEG, or WebP. For JPEG or WebP, adjust quality if needed.
- Inspect transparency and file size in the result, then download the converted file.
Examples
Convert a product image for a website
The pixel dimensions remain unchanged. Compare the visual result and byte count instead of assuming one format is always smaller.
JPEG photograph · 1200 × 800 px · WebP at 82% quality
WebP image · 1200 × 800 px · measured file size in the result panel
Keep a transparent diagram
WebP can retain transparency. Selecting JPEG would fill transparent areas with white.

Pick a format for the job
Converting an image can help when a build pipeline, CMS, or document editor expects a particular format. PNG preserves exact pixels and transparency, making it useful for diagrams and interface screenshots. JPEG is widely compatible and often suitable for photographs, but it loses some detail and cannot represent transparency. WebP supports both photographic compression and transparent areas. The best output is the one that meets your visual needs at an acceptable file size.
This tool keeps the original pixel dimensions. Quality applies when exporting JPEG or WebP; it does not control PNG export. A quality value is an encoder hint rather than a target number of bytes. The result panel reports actual size and percentage change, including when the converted file is larger. Compare that value with the preview before downloading.
If you need different dimensions, start with the Image Resizer. If you specifically want to reduce the number of bytes, try the Image Compressor and compare JPEG with WebP.
What the browser can and cannot preserve
Image conversion here is local and creates a new static file. Animated images become a single frame, and embedded metadata such as EXIF, GPS location, and color profiles are not copied. Browser support for output encoding varies; an unsupported choice produces an error rather than a PNG file with a misleading extension. The tool accepts files up to 20 MB and 40 megapixels. After downloading, check the output in the app where you plan to use it, especially if exact color reproduction matters.
Frequently asked questions
Which formats can I convert?
The tool accepts PNG, JPEG, and WebP, and offers the same three output formats. The selected browser must support decoding the input and encoding the output.
Will converting to PNG restore detail lost in JPEG?
No. Converting changes the file representation, but it cannot restore detail already removed by earlier lossy compression.
What happens to transparent areas?
PNG and WebP can keep transparency. JPEG has no transparency, so transparent pixels become white in the export.
Why did the output become larger?
Different formats and encoder settings use different amounts of data. PNG is lossless and can be substantially larger than a photographic JPEG.
Is format support the same in every browser?
No. If your browser cannot encode the selected format, the tool reports that rather than downloading a file under the wrong extension.
